Christmas Candles

In December 2016, I made over 30 Christmas candles using soy wax, recycled bottles, zinc-core wicks and one of three different scents (lavender, patchouli or "Christmas Tree", as it was called, but I think it's just pine).

Manufacturing Process:

1.  The bottles were thoroughly washed and soaked in cold water to remove the labels.

2.  A glass cutter was used to cut the tops off the bottles, leaving the bottom half as the candle holder.

3.  Wet-sanded around the cuts to get rid of sharp edges.

4.  The outside of the candle holder was decorated with glitter, ribbon and "fuzzy wire".

5.  The wicks were hot-glued to the inside bottom of the candle holders and held up vertically with popsickle sticks which rested on the top of the candle holder

6.  Soy wax flakes were melted and poured into each candle holder.

Below is a variety of Christmas candles I made, each with a unique design:

The manufacturing process started by removing the labels and thoroughly washing the bottles.  That A-1 steak sauce bottle in the front row never did get used.

After cutting the bottles, zinc-core wicks were hot-glued to the inside bottom and held verically with popsicle sticks.  These are ready to pour.

Some of the candle holders were decorated first before the wax was poured in.

Here's the finished product after the wax cooled and the excess wicks were cut off.
